Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use more phones with one account?
A: Yes, you can synchronize as many devices as you like with one SyncML Server account.
The server remembers all your devices and is able to mutually synchronize them
by keeping track of changes made to the phonebook, calendar, tasks, and notes on each
of them. This setup might be useful in situations where you e.g. own two phones and want
to avoid the tedious process of adding and updating your contacts twice.

Q: Do I have to be subscribed to some kind of data service with my operator to use the SyncML Server?
A: Definitely yes. Your phone needs Internet access to make the remote synchronization
work. Unfortunately, the details are operator and phone-specific. Since the
amount of data being transmitted over the air tends to be rather negligible,
it is generally a good idea to use a GPRS Internet or GPRS W@p connection, which
is usually moderately charged based on the volume of data transferred.

Q: My phone does not support synchronization of notes (or calendar, tasks). Can I
still use it with the SyncML Server?
A: Yes, just ignore the settings related to notes (calendar, tasks) and synchronize
only the databases supported by your phone.
